Danish Government Scholarships for the academic year 2018/19

In accordance with the Cultural Agreement Programme between Denmark and Israel, the following scholarships are available for students from Israel:

  • 20 months for master's and ph.d. students, divided into periods of 5-10 months for master's students and 3-12 months for ph.d. students. Bachelor's students wishing to study Danish language, culture or other fields of study related to Denmark can also apply provided that they have studied the Danish language for two years.

The amount of months cited above are allocated per academic year. Unused months can not be carried over to the next application round.

Purpose

Scholarships are available for master's and ph.d. students in order to enable them to study or carry out research at a Danish university or a similar institution of higher education in Denmark.

In order to encourage the establishment and development of direct contacts and agreements between institutions in Denmark and Israel, priority will be given to applicants who are affiliated to such projects.

Priority will also be given to applicants who want to study the language and culture of Denmark.

Conditions

Applicants must apply through, and be nominated by, their own national authorities. Please contact the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Jerusalem, Cultural and Scientific Affairs Department for further information.

Candidates nominated by their national authority must be approved by the Danish Agency for Science and Higher Education and the desired host institution in Denmark.  The Danish Agency for Science and Higher Education screens all applications before forwarding them on to the requested institutions for assessment and final approval.

In order to come into consideration for a scholarship, applicants must have arranged an appropriate study programme. Applications should include a detailed description of the intended project of studies/research in Denmark.

Please note you are ineligible for a scholarship if:

  • You are already enrolled or planning to enroll in a full degree, joint degree, or double degree programme in Denmark. Full, joint, and double degree students are not considered exchange students and are ineligible for scholarships.
  • You are not currently enrolled in, or conducting research at, an institution of higher education in your home country.
  • You intend to pursue studies at a bachelor’s level during your stay in Denmark in fields other than Danish language and literature.
  • You plan to conduct studies or research on a part-time, rather than a full-time, basis.

How to apply

Download the application form, complete, and submit it and all the required documents – including the Certificate of Proficiency in English – directly to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Jerusalem, Cultural and Scientific Affairs Department. Please contact the Ministry with respect to the national application deadline.

Deadline

The deadline to receive the nominations for the 2018/19 Danish Government Scholarships is at the beginning of March 2018.

Incomplete applications will not be taken into consideration. Please read all the instructions on the application form carefully before completing it.

Please note that being nominated by your home country’s national authority does not guarantee that you will be awarded a scholarship. The Danish Agency for Science and Higher Education screens all applications before forwarding them on to requested institutions for assessment and final approval.
