The Danish Council for Strategic Research’s annual report 2013/2014 marks the tenth anniversary of the council and the upcoming transition to The Danish National Innovation Foundation 1 April 2014. In the Annual Report 2013/2014, the Chair of the Council, Peter Olesen, sums up the significant results the Council has achieved since 2004. Since its foundation, the Council has awarded DKK 6.5m (approx. EUR 870m) to strategic research projects, where international collaboration, interdisciplinarity, public-private collaboration and user involvement is in focus.

The Annual Report brings stories about how it is to be a Ph.D. student in a strategic research project and about how in the future, hospitalisation can happen at home on the couch. You can also find stories about how the printing company Grafisk Maskinfabrik gained access to new markets, when the company – as a result of participation in a strategic research project – developed a solar cell printer. Also, find out how and when the biofilm of bacteria requires new solutions in the antibiotics of the future.
 
Moreover, the Annual Report contains key figures from the Council’s grants, overviews of international research collaboration and a list of grants awarded 2013.
