About DFF | Social Sciences

The Danish Council for Independent Research | Social Sciences (FSE) supports specific research activities based on the initiatives of the researchers and gives scientific advice within the scientific areas of the Council.

The Council covers research within economy, sociology, political science, forensic science, and the socio-scientific aspects of a number of cross-disciplinary themes (such as development research, gender research and cultural geography).

The Council allocates research grants to researchers working within these areas. Furthermore, the Council provides scientific advice in relation to socio-scientific issues. Advice is given according to request or on the Council's own initiative.

Furthermore, the Council contributes to strengthening the communication and use of research results and participates in international cooperation.

The Danish Council for Independent Research annually publishes a call inviting researchers to apply for funding for research activities within the scientific areas of the Council. The call includes information about requirements and guidelines for applications to The Danish Council for Independent Research | Social Sciences. Some instruments have open deadlines for application, which will appear from the call.

The Council's 12 members are acknowledged researchers appointed by the Minister for Higher Education and Science in their own personal capacity.
