University of Copenhagen

University of Copenhagen is one of the largest institutions of research and education in Denmark. The principal aim of the Centre for Internationalisation and Parallel Language Use (CIP) is to develop a research-based strategy for the enhancement of Danish and English language skills.

Type of institution: University
Location: Copenhagen (Region: Zealand)
Course period: August 3 - 21, 2020
Language level: B2

The course will focus on speaking and communicative Danish skills, which the students will practice through presentations: about experiences on the excursions, on basis of interviews in class and by actively participating in group-work and discussions regarding Danish culture, film, art and literature. Furthermore, we will work with the students reading and writing skills, and on grammar and pronunciation, adjusted to the specific needs of the class.

As preparation for class, the students will get homework and they must participate in the excursions, which are thematically relevant for the teaching subjects in class. The teaching method varies from class-based teaching, working in groups, in pairs and sometimes working alone. After class, there will be excursions (to museums, exhibitions, theaters or other culturally significant places in Copenhagen), and we will have lectures and presentations given by researchers from UCPH and elsewhere.

We will speak only in Danish, just as texts, films, presentations and excursions all are in Danish.  .
