Higher education institutions in Denmark have in recent years had an increasing focus on Vietnam. It is expected that even more Danish students will seek future study or internship in Vietnam and that more Danish institutions will form partnerships in the country.
Several Danish higher education institutions, in particular university colleges, have already well established partnerships with Vietnamese educational institutions. One example being University College Nordjylland (UCN) who in 2014 established a "Global Office Vietnam".The officeis intended to be the focal point for UCN's internationalisation efforts in Southeast Asia within the areas of study and internship, curriculum development and other educational collaborations. In 2017, UCN also established a Danish accredited Bachelor programme in Architectural Technology and Construction Managementin cooperation with the University of Architecture Ho Chi Minh City.
In 2015, Morten Pristed was stationed as a growth counselor, at the Embassy in Hano under the strategic sector cooperation with the Ministry of Education as main partner. The growth counselor's work includes, among other things, a strengthening of the internationalisation of Danish education in Vietnam by meeting partners at the Vietnamese institutions and promoting Danish education in Vietnam. The growth counselor will also promote the establishment of Danish education in Vietnam and support the development already begun by several Danish educational institutions.
The cooperation between Denmark and Vietnam on education is formally reflected in an agreement, corresponding to a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), from January 2017. The agreement covers elementary education, youth and vocational education as well as higher education and encourages both countries to enhancecooperation between Vietnamese and Danish educational institutions and authorities.
In Denmark, the agreement has been signed by the Ministry of Higher Education and Science and the Ministry of Education and in Vietnam it has been signed by the corresponding Vietnamese authorities; the Ministry of Education and Training and the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affair.
