About the council
The Danish Council for Research and Innovation Policy (DFiR) was established on 1 April 2014. The Council was set up, charged with the responsibility of providing policymakers with independent and expert advice on research, technological development and innovation.

Big drop in number of new admissions to the four major study courses connected with the welfare services: "This is very worrying"
60,034 applicants have been offered a place in higher education. Admissions to Nursing, Social Education, Social Work and Teaching are 14 % down on 2019. The Minister is concerned about the drop in admissions to study programmes of such central importance for our welfare society.

There have been almost 80,000 applicants for a place in higher education: "I can fully understand if you find this number a bit surprising."
Tuesday 5 July, at 12 noon, was the deadline for this year's Quota 1 applications for a place in higher education. As was expected, the total number of applicants this year is lower than in recent years.
