In relation to the data collection for Eurostudent the Agency for Science and Higher Education, the Ministry of Higher Education and Science, the Agency for Institutions and Educational
Grants and the higher educational institutions need to process your personal data. Processing of personal data is subject to the rules of the General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act.

General Data Protection Regulation
Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27th April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data etc.
Data Protection Act
Law No. 502 of May 23rd 2018 about additional provisions for a regulation on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data (Data Protection Act).
1. Collection of contact and personal information
The Agency for Science and Higher Education has obtained information about you from your educational institution, including your name, address, e-mail address, CPR number and information about which education you are enrolled in ("uddannelseskode") in order to contact you regarding participation in the survey.
Personal information is obtained by virtue of the Data Protection Regulation, article 6, stk. 1, litra e, where processing is lawful if

e) processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority vested in the controller”
It follows from the Data Protection Regulation article 6, stk. 3, litra b, that the basis for processing under article 6, stk. 1, litra e, must appear from:

b) Member State law to which the controller is subject.
The Agency for Science and Higher Education is subject the authority task to compile statistics, documentation and analysis regarding research and education, according to section 19.11.03 of the Finance Act (Finansloven).
There is thus a legal basis for obtaining the information virtue of the Data Protection Regulation, article 6, stk. 1, litra e and according to section 19.11.03 of the Finance Act (Finansloven).
If you choose to participate in the survey, your information will be processed as described below.
2. Data controller
The Agency for Science and Higher Education, the Ministry of Higher Education and Science and the Agency for Institutions and Educational Grants are data controller for the processing of personal data that the Agency has received about you. The contact information is:
If information is disclosed to your educational institution, as described in the section about disclosure of information, the institution is responsible for the processing of personal data at the institution.

The Ministry/Agency has a Data Protection Officer whom is tasked with advising the agency on the rules for processing personal data, etc.

4. Purpose and legal basis
The overall objective of the survey is to gather knowledge about students' socio-economic conditions, living conditions and mobility.
Eurostudent VIII is a European project with the main purpose of creating the basis for comparing students' conditions across European countries.
Your information are processed by The Agency for Science and Higher Education, the Ministry of Higher Education and Science and the Agency for Institutions and Educational Grants in “pseudonymized” form.
This means that employees who work with the survey do not have the opportunity to assign your answers to your person and that during the analysis work, the employees who are making the analysis cannot see who the individual answers and information belong to.
In addition, the answers can be processed at your educational institution. The information is in the same way processed in "pseudonymized" form.
The legal basis to process personal data as a part of statistical surveys are the General Data Protection Regulation article 6(1)(e), and the Data Protection Act section 10. In some cases the legal basis is the General Data Protection Regulation article 6(1)(a) or 9(2)(a), on consent.
5. Categories of personal information
The following categories of personal information about you are processed
- Contact and identification information such as social security number, name, address, postal code, telephone number, email address, study programme, educational institution, faculty (general personal information)
- Response information about study conditions, study background (e.g. previous education, start of studies), study conditions (e.g. study time, teaching, teachers), living conditions (e.g. income, housing conditions, work), international mobility (e.g. study / internship abroad, barriers to studying abroad ), personal and family background
- Response information about health including information on disability and disease (sensitive personal information).
- Background information about e.g. your gender, age, year, and parents' educational level (general personal data)
6. Where does the personal information come from?
The personal information come from:
- Contact and identification information is obtained from your educational institution.
- Information from the survey comes from you.
- Background information used in the processing by the Ministry/Agency is derived from registers at Statistics Denmark.
- Background information used by the institution come from the institution.
7. Disclosure of your personal information
Your answers from the survey will be disclosed with your educational institution if the institution wishes, as it may contribute to the development of the educational programmes at the institution.
8. Transfer to recipients in third countries
No personal data is transferred to third countries.
9. Retention of personal data
In order to be able to follow the development in Denmark and that of your educational institution over time, your answers will be retained as long as it is relevant in order to be able to follow the development in the conditions included in the survey and to make relevant analyzes of these.
The contact information that was used to contact you in regards to participation in the study, will be deleted three months after the the collection of data is completed.
10. The right to withdraw your consent
You are entitled to withdraw your consent at any time by contacting the The Agency for Science and Higher Education, the Ministry of Higher Education and Science, the Agency for Institutions and Educational Grants or your educational institution. You will find contact information above in the section about the data controller.
If you choose to withdraw your consent, it does not affect the legality of the processing of your personal data based on your consent until the date of withdrawal. If you withdraw your consent, therefore, it will not be effective until this date.
11. Your rights
You have certain rights in relation to the processing of your personal data by the ministry/agency. If you want to make use of those rights, you must contact the agency or your educational institution, which can also provide you with further information regarding those rights.

A. Right to see your data
You have the right to access the processing of your data. This means that you, with some exceptions, have the right to be told if the ministry, the agency or your educational institution is processing your personal data and to see the data in question.
B. Right to rectification (correction)
You have the right to correct incorrect information about yourself.
C. Right to deletion
In certain cases, you have the right to have your personal data deleted before the authority automatically deletes it.
D. Right to limited processing
In some cases, you have the right to limit the processing of your personal data. If you have the right to limit the processing of your data, then the ministry, the agency and the educational institution are only allowed to process that data - except when it comes to storage - with your consent or with the intent to establish, uphold or defend a legal claim or to protect a person or important interests of society.
E. Right to object
In certain cases, you may have the right to object to the otherwise lawful processing of your personal data.
F. Right to transmit information (data portability)
In some cases, you have the right to receive your personal data in a structured and commonly used format, which is machine readable, as well as to have your personal data transferred from one data controller to another without hindrance.

12. Complaint to the Danish Data Protection Agency
You have the right to file a complaint with the Danish Data Protection Agency if you are dissatisfied with the way your personal data is processed.
