The Danish Council for Independent Research (DFF) invites applications for PhD scholarships outside the universities

March 07, 2013
The Danish Council for Independent Research (DFF) invites applications for up to 10 PhD scholarships within all areas of scientific research, for projects to be carried out at other public research institutions than the universities.

The purpose of the PhD scholarships under this Call is to strengthen the education of researchers at public research institutions in Denmark outside the universities.

The Call is relevant for institutions outside the universities which are subject to the rules concerning subsidised research activities in the Danish Ministry of Finance’s budget guidelines, and which are authorised to carry out subsidised research. Thus, it covers e.g. state-owned research institutions, sector research institutions, the University Colleges Denmark as well as state archives, libraries and museums. However, the Call does not cover state approved museums, Advanced Technology Group (GTS) institutes, hospitals, etc.

There are different application deadlines, depending on which of DFF’s scientific research councils your application is going to be submitted to. In 2013, the respective research councils have the following application deadlines:

RESEARCH COUNCILAPPLICATION DEADLINE
The Danish Council for Independent Research | Natural Sciences (FNU) 6 May 2013, at 10:00 p.m.
The Danish Council for Independent Research | Social Sciences (FSE) 29 April 2013, at 10:00 p.m.
The Danish Council for Independent Research | Humanities (FKK) 1 May 2013, at 10:00 p.m.

The Danish Council for Independent Research | Medical Sciences (FSS) 24 April 2013, at 10:00 p.m.

Your application will be pre-assessed by the relevant research council, with a view to selecting the best applications for further evaluation by a cross-council board, which will then make its final decision in October 2013. The earliest possible starting date for PhD projects awarded funding under this Call will be 1 November 2013.
