The Danish Minister for Higher Education and Science Esben Lunde Larsen and the rest of the Danish delegation were close to Andreas Mogensen until the launch.

At 6.37 a.m. Danish time Andreas Mogensen, who is the first Danish astronaut, was sent into space. The launch took place in Baikonur in Kasakhstan where a Danish delegation with among others the Minister for Higher Education and Science Esben Lunde Larsen saw Andreas Mogensen on his way.

- It was an amazing experience to watch Andreas Mogensen be sent off into space. It is a proud day for Denmark and it will be vital for Danish research, Danish industry and hopefully also for children and young people’s interest in natural science programmes.

Today is a very good day to be Minister for Higher Education and Science, says Esben Lunde Larsen.
