Final semester students can return to seven health sciences programmes

Seven health sciences programmes can be reopened in a controlled manner from April 15 for students in their final semester.

For universities, this includes: Medicine, Odontology and Dental Technician (academy of professional higher education programmes offered by Aarhus University).

For university colleges, this includes: Nursing, Medical Laboratory Technician, Midwifery, and Radiography.

The Danish Agency for Science and Higher Education has been in dialogue with the educational institutions about which programmes are covered.

Specifically, the institutions were asked to account for programmes that provide students with competences that are critical for the health sector, and where in-person attendance is necessary for the student to complete their programme this summer.

Additionally, the institutions were asked to account for a number of factual and practical elements relevant to a reopening. This includes, the number of students, which activities are planned to be carried out in person, and which locations would be opened for a limited student attendance, as well as account for their preparedness measures for hygiene and mitigating the spread of the virus.

The educational institutions must ensure that the limited attendance by students is done in a safe manner without a significant risk of infection, and in line with the health authorities' guidelines. For example, all students and employees must wash their hands on arrival at the institution, maintain a 2 metre distance to others in all locations, and keyboards, mice and other equipment handled should be cleaned and disinfected after use.

The Danish Health Authority has provided guidelines for the controlled, gradual reopening of educational institutions.
