SU loans are also covered by the latest financial stimulus package

February 12, 2021
The Government and a number of parties in the Danish Parliament have agreed on a financial stimulus package that also includes an extension of the extended options for SU loans.

The Government, the Liberal Party, the Danish Social Liberal Party, the Socialist People's Party, the Red-Green Alliance, the Conservative People's Party and the Alternative have agreed on an extension of the existing financial stimulus packages. This agreement entails and extension of the extended options for SU loans. A document from the Finance Committee will implement the agreement, but a bill (L 140) concerning changes to existing legislation governing the student grants and loans scheme will have to be passed before the Minister for Higher Education and Science can extend options for SU loans up to and including April of this year. L 140 is expected to be passed on 23 February.

In other words a number of formalities have to be observed before the extended options for SU loans can come into force.

The government and a substantial Parliamentary majority have on several occasions renewed the possibility of applying for supplementary SU loans to support the financial situation of students in the COVID-19 situation. The last extension granted also included the month of February.
