Record numbers apply for higher education
A record number of 94,061 applicants have submitted applications for higher education programmes this year by the noon deadline on 5 July.
Minister for Higher Education and Science Ulla Tørnæs is pleased to see so many applicants.
- I am pleased to see so many want to pursue higher education. The individual benefits from an education as it opens many doors to interesting employment opportunities. It is also benefits society as higher education students are a central part of the food chain for future growth and prosperity, says Ulla Tørnæs.
The Minister for Higher Education and Science looks forward to seeing which education programmes and institutions people have applied to. The final account of this year's applicant figures will be published on 6 July.
- I hope that young people have pursued their choice of studies with both their heart and their mind. By following their heart, students will enjoy their study years. Meanwhile by following their mind, they will look forward to good employment opportunities. I hope that tomorrow will show us that more and more young people have chosen to apply to education programmes that offer good job prospects. This is particularly true of programmes aimed at the private labour market. It is crucial that we create a better match between education and the labour market, and the majority of future graduates will find their jobs in the private labour market, says Ulla Tørnæs.
