Women in research – bringing all talents into play

The Danish research effort has seen a major increase and so has the number of researchers. The proportion of female researchers has also increased. Nevertheless, there continues to be a gender imbalance in Danish research.

More than half of all new students enrolled into undergraduate programmes are women. And nearly as many women as men are accepted to PhD programmes. But still women constitute only one third of researchers at the universities (assistant professors, associate professors and professors).

In the publication “Women in research – Bringing all talents into play” the Ministry of Higher Education and Science has  described the present gender equality situation of the university based research in Denmark.
