Danish research is currently subject to remarkable international attention. This is because the development in Danish research performance has been unique. A bibliometric study from 2012 threw strong light on this and led to considerable international attention to the impact of Danish research.
The Danish Council for Research and Innovation Policy (DFiR) has decided to identify the reasons why Danish research has undergone such a remarkable development in an international context, where the impact of research is perceived as an indication of quality. DFiR is doing this for two reasons: Firstly, it is important that we obtain an insight into why Danish research has undergone this positive development if we are to maintain and perhaps improve this position. And secondly, it is important for Danish society to maintain support for excellent research generating value in society.
