Denmark - Switzerland

Switzerland is one of the world's leading research nations. Public and private investment in research and development in Switzerland is high. At around 3.4 per cent of GDP, few OECD countries invest more resources in science proportionally.

The 2024 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Denmark and Switzerland provides a framework that can bring the two countries closer together and help raise awareness of the collaborative relationships and opportunities that exist. The agreement mentions a number of topics for increased collaboration in areas such as green research, life science, quantum technology, space, artificial intelligence, humanities and social sciences. There are a number of collaborative relationships and funding opportunities between Denmark and Switzerland, which are strengthened through intergovernmental co-operation under the MOU.

When it comes to funding opportunities, in addition to the general instruments of the three funds, there are a number of instruments that can be brought into play to support the interaction between Denmark and Switzerland in terms of research, innovation and higher education.
