Danish efforts to attract global talents
Representatives from Danish education institutions and companies travelled to Brazil and China last week in a targeted collaborative effort to recruit international talent.
The Denmark Days event is part of the Ministry of Higher Education and Science's Top Talent Denmark initiative to brand Denmark as an attractive study and career destination. Top Talent Denmark is managed by Innovation Centre Denmark in São Paolo and Innovation Centre Denmark in Shanghai.
Strong competition for international talent
Top Talent Denmark includes study and career fairs, events, online activities, and alumni networks where international students can meet Danish higher education institutions and companies and learn more about Denmark.
Minister for Higher Education and Science Esben Lunde Larsen emphasised that Denmark faces strong international competition for the best talent, which is why Top Talent Denmark and Denmark Days are particularly important initiatives.

Minister for Higher Education and Science Esben Lunde Larsen emphasised that Denmark faces strong international competition for the best talent, which is why Top Talent Denmark and Denmark Days are particularly important initiatives.
- When international talents chose a place of study, they are looking for the best possible education and also good career opportunities. We must show students that Denmark can offer both. By connecting Danish companies directly with the best students from Brazil and China, we are creating a really good recruitment platform of international talent for companies that need a particularly qualified labour force, says Esben Lunde Larsen.
Students from Brazil and China must, as a rule, pay to study in Denmark.
Great interest in Danish education and career opportunities
Top Talent Denmark is a year-round initiative that began in China in 2011 and in Brazil in 2013.
Registration for the Denmark Days event in Brazil was extremely popular this year and the event was booked out long ago. The registration-only Denmark Days events can accommodate 250 participants and focus on the DNA of the Danish education system.
Participating institutions also reach a wider audience of Brazilian students through participation in education fairs in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
Denmark Days always attracts a large crowd in China and Innovation Centre Denmark in Shanghai expected more than 2500 participants to their event. News of Denmark Days also spreads online and via social media e.g. the event has more than 15000 followers on Wechat and Weibo in China alone.
