Annual Conference 2014 of the Danish Council for Strategic Research

Under the theme strategic research in a global perspective, the Danish Council for Strategic Research is pleased to invite to the Annual Conference 2014, marking 10 years of strategic research.

Time: Monday 10 March 2014, 12.30 to 17.00

Place: The Black Diamond, Søren Kierkegaards Plads 1, Copenhagen (The Queens’s Hall)

Journalist and global correspondent, Danish Broadcasting Corporation, Steffen Kretz will moderate the programme of the day.

Keynote speaker Dr. Jennifer Barnes is Pro-Vice-Chancellor for international strategy at University of Cambridge. From her extensive experience in international cooperation in the university and private sectors she will offer her perspective on the challenges and opportunities globalisation confronts us with. In 2005, she was appointed as the first Director of International Education for the world’s third largest energy company, BP, where she advised colleagues in more than 25 countries on how to establish partnerships between business, governments and the university sector.

Minister for Higher Education and Science Sofie Carsten Nielsen will present the Strategic Research Awards 2014 to the research talents of the year. Two awards are presented: one to a research talent who has demonstrated great potential for fruitful cooperation with private and public users and whose research has an extraordinary innovation potential, and one to a research talent who, by participating in international cooperation, has demonstrated great potential for advancing Danish strategic research collaboration.

The day will end with information meetings on this year’s calls for applications within “Strategic Growth Technologies”, “Health, Food and Welfare”, “Sustainable Energy and Environment”, “Individuals, Disease and Society”, “Transport and Infrastructure”, and “Peace and Conflict”. (the latter is a stand with the possibility to ask questions).

The conference is held in English. Exempted from this are the information meetings, which will be in Danish. Slides with material for the information meetings will be in English and questions and answers can be in English as well if wished.

  • Strategic research with a particularly great innovation potential
  • Excellent international research collaboration

Presentation of centre leader and SPIR leader who have received grants from the council in 2013.
