DFIR debate meeting and workshop: From Hype to Action: Embracing Generative AI in Danish Research Practices

In collaboration with DIREC, DFIR hosts a debate on the potentials, risks, and barriers of generative AI in Danish research and innovation. The debate and workshop offer a platform to share perspectives on responsible AI integration. Join the discussion on AI’s role in shaping Danish R&I.
  • Time and place
  • When January 29, 2025 from 12:30 AM to 04:30 PM
  • Where IT-byen Katrinebjerg, INCUBA Next, Åbogade 15, 18. etage, 8200 Aarhus N

Danish research and innovation will increase the quality, scope and relevance of Denmark's investments in research and innovation through the use of artificial intelligence. But the technology can also lead to extensive changes in the framework conditions for research and innovation. This should be followed by ethical and security considerations, as well as considerations regarding how Danish environments seize the new opportunities.

The Danish Council for Research and Innovation Policy (DFIR) has recently commissioned a report on cases, potentials and risks of the use of generative AI (genAI) in research and innovation as well as researchers' use of genAI and assessment of the research ethical challenges in the five phases of the research process, namely idea generation, research design, data collection, data analysis and research dissemination.

The report indicates that while researchers see the benefits of genAI, its current usage is limited. In collaboration with the Digital Research Center Denmark (DIREC), DFIR is organizing a debate and subsequent workshop on genAI. The debate and preceding workshop provide an opportunity to share perspectives on practices for responsible integration of genAI.

Program:

12:30 - 1:00 PM: Lunch

1:00 - 2:30 PM: Part 1: Workshop: the use of genAI i research

Mads Rosendahl Thomsen, Professor of Comparative Literature, Aarhus University.

The event will be held in English.

At the workshop, participants are invited to engage in in-depth discussions on how generative AI can be applied in research and innovation. They will be presented with cases of how generative AI has been applied in various research fields, as well as discussions on how it has influenced research practices.

At the debate meeting, participants are invited to discuss how Danish research environments can move from hype to action in the application of generative artificial intelligence.

The program for the workshop and debate meeting will be updated continuously.
