Now more than ever, space is essential. As a result, EU's space programs are expanding. Earth observation satellites under the Copernicus program and positioning satellites in the Galileo program are now being complemented by the IRIS² satellite constellation for secure communication. The European Space Agency (ESA) has played a key role in developing these satellite programs, and its collaboration with the European Commission has steadily increased over the years.
Space Conference 2025 will be a central platform where European policymakers and officials, industry leaders, and researchers can shape the direction of the next generation of European space technology and policy. The program includes keynote speeches by the Danish Minister for Higher Education and Science, Christina Egelund, ESA astronaut Andreas Mogensen, and Executive Director of the EU Agency for the Space Programme (EUSPA), Rodrigo da Costa.
The conference will take place at Musikkens Hus in Aalborg and will also feature exhibitions on Earth observation and space, provided by the European Commission.
Aalborg University is at the forefront of research and innovation in satellite systems and space communication technology. In close collaboration with ESA, AAU has developed technologies and nurtured talent that have made Aalborg a rapidly growing ecosystem for satellite development. Within a 25 km radius, the region now hosts 15 satellite and space companies, alongside research, education, and innovation initiatives.
Youth Space Conference
Students are crucial to Denmark’s engagement and contribution to future space programs. Therefore, the Space Conference will begin with the 'Youth Space Conference' for upper secondary school students. The youth conference is organized by the House of Natural Sciences (Naturvidenskabernes Hus) and ESERO Denmark.
Registration for the conference will open before the summer holidays – but Save the date in your calendar already now!
