Changes to the Ministry's fields of responsibility

The former Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation has been renamed the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Higher Education. As a result, the ministry's fields of responsibility have been altered.

With the renaming of the ministry to the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Higher Education, there have been a number of changes to its fields of responsibility.

New responsibilities for the ministry

The following areas will be transferred from other ministries to the current Ministry of Science, Innovation and Higher Education:

From the Ministry of Education:

The responsibility for cases concerning higher education at the professional bachelor's degree level, including higher education for adults pursuing open education. This also includes the institutions, etc that fall within this area.

From the Ministry of Culture:

The responsibility for cases concerning the law on creative higher education institutions that fall under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and the law regarding the Royal School of Library and Information Science, including institutions that are covered by the law, as well as creative education that receive grants from the Ministry of Culture. This however does not include the Danish National School of Theatre and Contemporary Dance, the National Film School of Denmark, the Schools of Visual Art or the music conservatories.

From the Ministry of Economic and Business Affairs:

The responsibility for cases concerning maritime education.

Changes to and relinquishment of former responsibilities

The former responsibility of the ministry for the administration of university buildings will be transferred to the new Ministry of Climate, Energy and Buildings.

The National IT and Telecom Agency will be closed and its responsibilities will be transferred to the following:

To the Ministry of Growth and Business Affairs:

The responsibility for telecom and internet regulation, as well as the administration of frequencies.

To the Ministry of Defence:

The responsibility for cases concerning the protection of critical IT infrastructure, as well as the state's notification service for internet threats, GovCert.

To the Ministry of Finance:

The responsibility for IT policy, including cases concerning digital communication with businesses and the public.

To the Ministry of Economic and Interior Affairs:

The responsibility for certain tasks concerning IT modernisation and digitalisation-related conditions.
