Ulla Tørnæs completed a handover today of the Ministry of Higher Education and Science to her political party colleague Søren Pind, who described the role as that of a ”minister for the future”.

The European Commissions published the 'European Innovation Scoreboard 2016’ on 14 July comparing and examining the research and innovation efforts of EU and selected other countries.

New deadlines: The autumn application deadlines will be at the end of September / beginning of October, one month earlier than previous years. The Danish Council for Independent Research invites for proposals on groundbreaking research activities within all scientific fields.

Great societal challenges in the areas of climate, environment and food production among others, require cross-border collaborative solutions, according to a new Danish roadmap that will help strengthen the internal European knowledge market and thereby also strengthen Danish research.

The Danish Ministry of Higher Education and Science and the Korean education ministry have signed a cooperative exchange agreement for higher education students. The agreement will provide students from both countries with new opportunities, allowing them to develop and expand their knowledge.

The joint European research facility European Spallation Source (ESS), which Denmark is co-host for, has appointed John Womersley Director General for ESS.

The application deadline for grant applications to the Danish Council for Independent Research is approaching.

In December 2015 the European Research Council awarded five of their prestigious grants to researchers from Danish universities. The European Research Council now grants 59 extra funds, of which three go to researchers in Denmark working with ground-breaking research within cancer and archeology.

Six Danish universities are among the best 200 universities in Europe. This appears from a list which the magazine Times Higher Education published today.
