Normal everyday life in higher education from 14 June
The Government, the Liberal Party, the Danish People's Party, the Socialist People's Party, the Danish Social Liberal Party, the Red-Greens, the Conservatives, the Liberal Alliance and the Alternative have agreed on a plan that sets out how the corona restrictions will be phased out in the coming months.
This is good news for higher education, which can return to normal everyday life again from 14 June. From this date, restrictions will be lifted and reduced to a 'basic level'.
This means, among other things, that as of 14 June:
- the requirement to wear a face mask or visor in higher education is abolished.
- the recommendation to keep a distance of 1-2 metres at educational institutions is repealed.
It also means that as of 1 August:
- the requirement that students must present a negative test result upon attendance at their institution of higher education will be abolished.
- the requirement that higher education institutions maintain their own test facilities will be abolished.
The 'basic level' only requires that a number of provisions concerning cleaning, etc. remain in force. At the same time, general advice concerning infection prevention will still apply, with a focus on testing and isolation in case of symptoms, on ventilation and proper hygiene.
In terms of the practical organisation of teaching, etc., in some respects the easing of restrictions will not be implemented at educational institutions until 1 August 2021.
Physical attendance for staff will follow the guidelines for public employees, which means 50% attendance per 14 June and 100% attendance per August 1.
According to the plan for phasing out restrictions, however, higher education institutions will be able to hold summer courses under normal conditions, and also plan to start the semester after the summer holidays under normal conditions.
If the epidemic once again should develop in a worrying direction, it may be necessary to reintroduce one or more restrictions.
