The purpose of this ICDK Outlook stems from the ‘Strategy for Research and Education concerning the Arctic’ which was launch by the Danish Ministry of Higher Education and Science. The report maps the current research areas and stakeholders related to Arctic research in the following countries: USA, China, Germany, South Korea and India. In addition, the report includes a bibliometric analysis focusing on publications and impact within Arctic research in the before-mentioned countries and the Kingdom of Denmark.
The report outlines the background of the countries’ interest in the Arctic as well as their positions of strength within Arctic research e.g. specialized research centres, infrastructure, national strategies, etc.
Then follows a mapping of the main stakeholders related to Arctic research in each country in order to contribute to an overview of possible collaborative partners to the Danish Arctic research environments.
Finally, the report outlines concrete examples and suggestions as to how Danish researchers can develop new, or strengthen existing, collaborations in order to support and maintain the international research opportunities that exist in the Arctic region.
Prospectively, and based on this ICDK Outlook, the Innovation Attachés in USA, China, Germany, South Korea and India will thus be able to assist Danish research environments in establishing contact to relevant institutions and stakeholders with the aim to contribute to new or ongoing initiatives, collaborations and network within Arctic research.
