Description of the GTS-net

There are seven independent Danish research and technology organisations – the GTS institutes

GTS is an abbreviation of “Godkendt Teknologisk Service” which is translated as “approved technological service provider”.

“Approved” refers to the official procedure where the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation approves each institute for a period of three years. The approval is given on the basis of technological/professional performance, financial performance and organisational solidity.

The seven GTS-institutes are independent not-for-profit organisations with the purpose to transfer and disseminate technical know-how, new methods and knowledge to industry and society in order to create and increase development.

The GTS-network has two main functions:

  1. Develop and maintain the basic technological infrastructure in Denmark - e.g. standardisation activities, testing and access to equipment
  2. Create technological innovation and development within Danish industry - e.g. new methods, concepts and service
