The allocation process
It is expected that the allocation of funding for proposals in the catalogue of Danish Roadmap for Research Infrastructures 2020 until 2023 will follow the process outlined below:
- Every year, based on advice from Danish Agency for Science and Higher Education and the National Committee for Research Infrastructure (NUFI), the Minister for Higher Education and Science chooses a number of proposals from the roadmap catalogue that are prioritised for funding in that year. The number of proposals selected per year depends on how much funding is available in that year from the national fund for investment in new national research infrastructures.
- According to the minister’s decision, The Danish Agency for Science and Higher Education initiates a dialogue with the main proposer behind the selected proposals for the purpose of funding. During the dialogue process, the agency will likely request new materials such as updated and detailed budgets, timetables, descriptions of the proposals, etc., from the proposers.
- When the dialogue process has been completed successfully with the selected proposals, funding will be awarded and it will be publicly announced which proposals have received funding that year. It is expected that the annual publication will take place in the autumn.
Proposals in the roadmap catalogue are not guaranteed funding from the national fund.
Evaluation criteria
In the annual selection process, the same evaluation criteria used for selecting proposals for the roadmap are applied. Though, a particular emphasis will be given to the proposals’ maturity in order for them to be sufficiently mature to be realised in the short term.
The evaluation criteria are the following:
- Scientific quality and impact
- National added-value
- Socio-economic impact
- Feasibility
