What is Funded?
The ”Food, Bioeconomy, Natural Resources, Agriculture and Environment” sub-programme is very broad and primarily funds projects that contribute to research, innovation and novel solutions within e.g. biodiversity, ecosystem services, food systems, agriculture, fishery and aquaculture, oceans, freshwaters and coastal areas, pollution, circular economy, bioeconomy and biotechnology, green solutions for society as well as climate change.
Projects that are financed by this sub-programme must support the initiatives and objectives of the European Green Deal, the Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Agreement as well as other relevant initiatives and drivers for the transition towards a green and sustainable Europe.
Proposals must suggest groundbreaking solutions to specific challenges that have been described in a call and that help strengthen Europe’s knowledge and innovation base and competitiveness and secure sustainable solutions and healthy communities for all citizens.
Projects that are financed by this sub-programme will most often require close interdisciplinary, cross-sector collaboration in consortia with many international partners who, together, can find solutions and support the transition towards a sustainable, green Europe.
The sub-programme covers seven thematic areas:
- Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services
- Fair, Healthy and Environmentally-friendly Food Systems from Primary Production to Consumption
- Circular Economy and Bioeconomy Sectors
- Clean Environment and Zero Pollution
- Land, Oceans and Water for Climate Action
- Resilient, Inclusive, Healthy and Green Rural, Coastal and Urban Communities
- Innovative Governance, Environmental Observations and Digital Solutions in Support of the Green Deal.
