Denmark participates in a number of large international projects based on very sizeable and expensive research infrastructures which cannot be financed by one country alone.

EU Cooperation on Horizon Europe
The Agency for Higher Education and Science plays an active role in the implementation of EU's research and innovation programme Horizon Europe which has a budget of EUR 86 billion for research and innovation from 2021 to 2027.
First Danish astronaut
2 September 2015 the first Danish ESA astronaut Andreas Mogensen began a 10-day mission to the International Space Station ISS.
Other cooperation activities
Denmark is also involved in national and international research activities which do not require the establishment of expensive research infrastructures.
