If you send in original education documents, you should send them by registered post. We always return original education documents and original translations by registered post. You can also choose to collect the documents at our reception. In that case, you must call us to make an appointment.
Certified copies are normally returned by ordinary post.
Digital Post
If you have a Danish CPR number and MitID you can send your application by Digital Post, unless you are to submit original documents (see "Documents from certain countries" below).
- Fill in and sign the application form.
- Scan the form followed by the documentation into a single PDF document not exceeding 9 MB.
- Log in to post.borger.dk using your MitID and go to step 4,
or use this link Digital Post to the Danish Agency for Higher Education and Science (new window, log in with MitID) and skip to step 7. - Select "Skriv ny post".
- Click the search field and search for ”Uddannelses- og Forskningsstyrelsen”.
- Click "Uddannelses- og Forskningsstyrelsen".
- Select this category under "Øvrige": "Vur. og anerkendelse af udenlandske uddannelser" (i.e. Assessment and recognition of foreign qualifications).
- Attach the PDF document and send your message.
Documentation
The assessment will be delayed if we have to ask for further information or documentation. It is therefore important that you carefully follow the documentation requirements below.
Required documents

Diploma/certificate in the original language for each qualification that you want to have assessed. If you have more than one higher education qualification (e.g. a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree), please enclose all of the documents.

Transcript of records in the original language for each qualification that you want to have assessed. If you are unable to provide the transcript, please list in your own words the subjects studied and passed.

Translation of diploma/certificate for each qualification that you want to have assessed, unless it is in Norwegian, Swedish, English, German, French, or Spanish. If you attach a Diploma Supplement issued in one of the languages mentioned, translation is not necessary (see point 6).

If you want assessment of a degree, please enclose the entrance qualification, e.g. high school certificate.

If you have a Diploma Supplement, please enclose it. The Diploma Supplement is issued by the higher education institutions in the EU/EEA countries.

If the name on any of the documents is different from the name you are currently using: name change documentation, e.g. marriage certificate.

If your qualifications have been assessed before: previous assessment(s) or recognition decision(s).
The Danish Agency for Higher Education and Science may ask you for further documentation of your qualifications, including original documents.
By signing the application you certify that the information given in the application is correct and that the enclosures are authentic documents relating to you. The Danish Agency for Higher Education and Science conducts routine verification of foreign documents. Cases of fraud (including the use of documents belonging to another person) will be reported to the police.

If you want assessment of qualifications from one of the following countries, you are encouraged to enclose the original documents or other special documentation.

- Degree certificates stamped by the Higher Education Commission (HEC). We only accept HEC stamps issued from February 2009 and onwards.
- Your CNIC number.

We ask for original documents because it has proved necessary, on several occasions, to ask applicants for original documents from the countries mentioned in order to provide sufficient basis for our assessment.
Power of attorney
If you want another person to communicate with the Agency about your application, you must give that person power of attorney to do so. The power of attorney must be dated and signed, containing the name, address, postal code and town, email address, phone number and civil registry number (if none: date of birth) of the person you have authorised to act on your behalf.
After applying
You will receive confirmation of your application within 14 days. We will contact you in case any information or documents are missing.
The assessment normally takes no more than two months from submitting all of the required documents. If you have a Danish CPR number and permanent residence in Denmark, you will receive the assessment as a pdf sent by Digital Post (unless you are exempt from Digital Post, in which case you get it by letter post).
Processing of your personal data
The Agency records the information you provide in your application or afterwards, in order to process the application and to be able to answer any inquiries regarding the processing and assessment later.
The Agency may contact the educational institution or the relevant authority in the country of education to confirm your qualifications if you have consented to this in the application form. The country does not necessarily have data security rules preventing information from reaching unauthorised persons, unless it is an EU/EEA country, Andorra, Argentina, the Faroe Islands, Guernsey, Isle of Man, Israel, Jersey, New Zealand, Switzerland, South Korea, the United Kingdom or Uruguay.
You have the right to withdraw your consent. If you do so the Board may be unable to make the assessment you have applied for.
In some cases, the Agency asks an educational institution for an expert opinion. In that case, the Agency may disclose information about your education so that the educational institution can evaluate your qualifications.
If you get an assessment, the Agency passes information about you and the assessment on to Statistics Denmark, which uses the information for statistical purposes only.
The Agency processes the information in accordance with the Assessment of Foreign Qualifications Act (Consolidated Act No. 579 of 1 June 2014) and the Executive Order on Assessment of Foreign Qualifications (Order No. 602 of 25 June 2003).

Filling in the application form
Please do not give any sensitive personal information in your application.
1. Personal details
- Previous name: Fill in if your name has changed since the documents were issued.
- Danish civil registry no.: If you have no Danish civil registry number, please write your date of birth: day- month-year.
- Street address, e.g. ”Main Street 12, 3rd floor”.
- Any other address information: If, for example, your name is not on the door/letter box, please write “C/o” followed by the name that is.
- Telephone number (daytime): A phone number where we can reach you during office hours (9h–16h).
- Email: Please write your e-mail address very carefully.
2. Purpose of the assessment
Tick the main purpose for which you want to use the assessment.
If the main purpose is ”Job”, please state the field of work in which you are looking for employment or are already employed. NB: For some professions you need authorisation by another authority.
If the main purpose is “Further education”, please mention which type of education you want to enter, e.g. “bachelor's degree programme" or “vocational education and training”. N.B.: The assessment does not include any conversion of grades/marks.
Former assessment: Tick ”Yes” if you have received any written assessment or decision on recognition of your qualification before, from the Agency or from other bodies in Denmark or abroad.
Language of the assessment: You can only get the assessment in one language. An assessment in Danish is easier to use in the Danish labour market and in the Danish education system.
3. Basic compulsory school
Primary and lower secondary education, i.e. education that you received from age 5 to 15, approximately. This information makes it easier for us to assess your subsequent qualifications.
- Qualification: The name of the school leaving certificate or final exam in the original language using Latin letters (abcd etc.). E.g. "School Leaving Certificate".
- School: The name of the school (or last school), in the original language using Latin letters.
4. Upper secondary education
Fill in this section if you have completed general education which can be entered after completing lower secondary education, i.e. after compulsory school, and which gives access to higher education.
- If you have completed more than one upper secondary programme, please write the additional infor- mation on a separate sheet of paper.
- Qualification: Please write the name of the qualification as it appears on the certificate, in the original language using Latin letters (abcd etc.). E.g. "High School Diploma".
- Educational institution: Name of the educational institution in the original language using Latin letters.
- Official length of programme: How many years and months were officially required to complete the pro- gramme according to the curriculum?
5. Vocational education and training
Fill in this section if you have completed education or training preparing for a specific occupation and which can usually be entered after completing lower secondary school, i.e. after compulsory education.
If you have completed more than one vocational education and training programme, please write the additional information on a copy of this page of the form.
- Qualification: Please write the name of the qualification as it appears on the certificate, in the original language using Latin letters (abcd etc.). E.g. "National Certificate in Telecommunications", "Dyplom Ukonczenia Szkoly Policealnej".
- Educational institution: Please write the name of the educational institution in the original language using Latin letters.
- Official length of programme: How many years and months of full-time study were officially required to complete the programme according to the curriculum, including any compulsory internships/periods of work practice?
- Did the programme include an internship or other practical training in a workplace? If so, please indicate how many months it took and the name of the place where you worked.
6. Higher education
Fill in this section if you have completed university education or other studies that normally require at least an upper secondary school leaving certificate.
If you have completed more than three higher education programmes, please write the additional information on a copy of this part of the form.
- Qualification: Please write the name of the degree as it appears on the degree certificate, in the original language using Latin letters (abcd etc.). E.g. "Diplom-Betriebswirtin", "Bachelor of Science in Engineering", "Master's Degree in Chemistry, "Maîtrise en droit", "Doctor of Philosophy", "Kandidat Nauk".
- Educational institution: Please write the name of the educational institution in the same language as the degree certificate, using Latin letters.
- Official length of programme: How many years and months of full-time study were officially required to complete the programme according to the curriculum, including any compulsory internships/periods of work practice?
- Did the programme include an internship or other practical training in a workplace? If so, please indicate how many months it took and the name of the place where you worked.
- Did you finish the programme with a thesis, dissertation or other large project?: If yes, please state:
Title of the thesis etc.
Nominal duration: How many months were officially allotted for this work?
If credits were awarded for this work: number of credits and name of the credits, e.g. “30 ECTS”.
7. Relevant work experience
Please list the most important periods of employment where you have used your qualification.
We do not assess your work experience, but the information you give about work experience may facilitate the assessment of your qualification.
8. Additional information
Information about unfinished education, if any, or other circumstances relevant to the assessment of your qualification.
Do not give any sensitive personal information.
Normally, we assess the level obtained with the last non-Danish qualification. If you need a separate assessment of an earlier qualification, please mention it here.
NB: We do not assess grades and subject levels.
9. Contact to authorities in the country of education
We ask you to accept that we may contact your educational institution or a relevant authority in the country where you obtained your qualification, in case we want to have confirmation of information about the qualification.
If your answer is no, you must state the reasons why.
10. Body submitting the application, if applicable
Only fill in this section if the application is being submitted by a person representing an authority, unemployment fund, institution, company or organisation, e.g. a job centre adviser. If you are sending the ap- plication yourself as a qualification holder, please leave the section blank.
Please remember to answer the question about whether to have a copy of the assessment sent to the contact person, if any.
11. Signature of the holder of the qualification
As a qualification holder you are asked to accept that the Danish Agency for Higher Education and Science carries out an assessment of your qualifications, and you do this by signing the application form. Normally your consent is required even if somebody else is submitting the application.
By signing the form you also certify that the information given in the application is correct and that the enclosures are authentic documents relating to you.
