Level 6

This page describes the learning outcomes that are expected of a learner who successfully completes a qualification at level 6. You will also find a link to courses leading to level 6 and examples of qualifications at this level.

Knowledge

Examples of qualifications at level 6

Bachelor's degree

Certificate/degree

The degree documents that a person has obtained a qualification as a bachelor. The aim of the Bachelor study programme is to introduce the student to the academic disciplines of one or more areas, including theory and method, such that the student obtains broad academic knowledge and ability.

In addition, the study programme provides the student with academic knowledge, theoretical and methodological qualifications and competences so that the student independently can identify, formulate and resolve complex issues within the relevant components of the field.

Employment and further education

The Bachelor's degree qualifies the student to undertake business functions independently and for admission to a Master’s programme (Candidatus and Master within adult further education).

How is the degree obtained?

The degree is obtained by successfully completing a Bachelor study programme.

Admission: Admission to a Bachelor programme requires an upper secondary education qualification and the fulfilment of specific admission requirements.

Who can award the degree?

The degree is awarded by the universities.

Professional Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (nurse)

Certificate/degree

The degree documents that a person has obtained a qualification as a professional bachelor in nursing (nurse). A nurse has theoretical and clinical expertise, can adopt a critical and analytical approach to his or her job, and can function independently as a professional nurse and take part in professional and interdisciplinary cooperation.

Employment and further education

The degree leads to employment as a nurse in the health sector. The nurse is authorised pursuant to the Act on the authorisation of health personnel and on health professional activity.

The degree qualifies for entry to relevant master’s study programmes, supplemented by additional admission requirements if necessary.

How is the degree obtained?

The degree is obtained by completing a professional bachelor study programme in nursing. The study programme equivalents 210 ECTS and takes place as alternation between theoretical and clinical (practical teaching). The prescribed period for clinical teaching is 90 ECTS. The theoretical and clinical modules are assessed by internal or external examinations. The programme contains a total of 5 external examinations. The study programme concludes with a bachelor project, which is assessed at an oral examination.

Admission: There are several admission routs: via an upper secondary school study programmes;; vocational training as a social and health care assistant (level 2), fulfilling specific requirements; or via four upper secondary school single subjects, nine months’ vocational experience and fulfilling a number of specific requirements.

Who can award the degree?

The educational institution awards the degree issues a certificate for a completed study programme according to the rules in the executive order on examination regulations.

Bachelor in Technology Management and Marine Engineering

Certificate/degree

 

The certificate documents that a person has obtained a qualification as a Bachelor in Technology Management and Marine Engineering. A person holding this certificate can assume responsibility for a ship’s technical installations and overall maintenance. In addition, the person can undertake the function of, for example, supervisor, energy consultant or sales engineer in enterprises utilising large-scale technical plant and working with technical development.

Employment and further education

The certificate can lead to employment at sea and on land. At sea, and after sufficient sailing experience, the mechanical engineering examination gives the right to sail as chief engineer on all ships irrespective of size. On land the certificate can lead to jobs as supervisor, energy consultant or sales engineer in any enterprise utilising large-scale technical plant and working with technical development. The certificate provides access to master’s programmes in transport and maritime management or maritime technology as well as an Executive MBA in Shipping Logistics – all on level 7.

Admission requirements

The certificate is obtained by successfully completing the programme as a Bachelor in Technology Management and Marine Engineering. This is a medium-cycle higher education programme and the prescribed period of study is 4½ years if the student has an upper secondary education. If the student has completed an approved vocational education and training programme, the prescribed period of study is 3 years.

Admission: Admission to the study programme requires that the applicant has successfully completed an upper secondary school education (upper secondary school qualification certificate) at level 4 or:

  • Vocation training supplemented by Mathematics, Danish, Physics/chemistry and English. Two of the subjects must be at least level B and the remaining subject at least level C, or
  • The entrance course to the engineering programme with Mathematics, English, Danish, and either Physics or Chemistry. Two of the subjects must be at least level B and the remaining subject at least level C, or
  • At least 2 years’ relevant work experience accepted by the educational institution on the basis of an assessment of prior learning.

Who can award the certificate?

The certificate is issued by Copenhagen School of Marine Engineering and Technology Management, Fredericia School of Technology Management and Marine Engineering, Aarhus School of Marine and Technical Engineering, MARTEC, or Svendborg International Maritime Academy (SIMAC).

Diploma Degree in Management

Certificate/degree

The degree documents that a person has obtained a degree in management. The degree provides vocational competence together with personal and professional competence in the fields of personal leadership, management and staff and management and organisation.

Employment and further education

The degree qualifies the holder to undertake management tasks in both private and public enterprises and institutions etc. The programme provides access to relevant master’s programmes.

How is the degree obtained?

The degree is obtained by completing a diploma degree programme in management. The study programme equivalents 60 ECTS and takes up to 3 years’ part time study. The study programme consists of 6 compulsory modules, 3 optional modules and a final project where there is possibility of specialising. There is an examination following each module. The whole programme concludes with a final project and an examination. The degree can also be obtained via an assessment of prior learning.

Admission: Admission to the study programme is conditional on the applicant having completed an education programme on the same level as a medium-cycle higher education programme, a bachelor’s programme, a relevant programme at minimum on a level with short-cycle higher education programme, or a VVU programme (further education for adults) completed as a regulated course. In addition, the applicant must have at least 2 years’ relevant vocational experience following a completed qualifying examination.
