Documentation requirements

The assessment will be delayed if we have to ask for further information or documentation. It is therefore important that you carefully follow the documentation requirements below.

Required documents

  1. Diploma/certificate in the original language for each qualification that you want to have assessed. If you have more than one higher education qualification (e.g. a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree), please enclose all of the documents.

  2. Transcript of records in the original language for each qualification that you want to have assessed. If you are unable to provide the transcript, please list in your own words the subjects studied and passed.

  3. Translation of the diploma/certificate for each qualification that you want to have assessed, unless it is in Norwegian, Swedish, English, German, French, or Spanish. If you attach a Diploma Supplement issued in one of the languages ​​mentioned, translation is not necessary (see point 6).

  5. If you want assessment of a degree, please enclose the entrance qualification, e.g. high school certificate.

  6. If you have a Diploma Supplement, please enclose it. The Diploma Supplement is issued by the higher education institutions in the EU/EEA countries.

  7. If the name on any of the documents is different from the name you are currently using: name change documentation, e.g. marriage certificate.

  8. If your qualifications have been assessed before: previous assessment(s) or recognition decision(s).

The Danish Agency for Higher Education and Science may ask you for further documentation of your qualifications, including original documents.

By signing the application you certify that the information given in the application is correct and that the enclosures are authentic documents relating to you. The Danish Agency for Higher Education and Science conducts routine verification of foreign documents. Cases of fraud (including the use of documents belonging to another person) will be reported to the police.

Recognition of teaching qualifications

In addition, please enclose the following documents if your are applying for recognition of teaching qualifications (teacher in municipal primary and lower secondary school, teacher in general upper secondary education, pedagogue in municipal primary school, or teacher of Danish for adult foreigners):

  • Proof of nationality: passport or ID card.
  • Evidence of professional experience if you have worked as a teacher, in or outside Denmark: e.g. references or labour book.
  • Teacher certificate/letter of authorisation or other documentation of professional recognition as a teacher in the country of education. This only applies to countries where such certificates are issued.
  • If you have been granted professional rights to work as teacher in an EU or EEA country based on teaching qualifications obtained outside EU/EEA or Switzerland: Attestation that you have worked as a teacher in the Member State that recognised your qualifications from the non-Member State.

Form of documentation

Unless you are otherwise instructed, please scan your documents to pdf files. Read about scanning documents below.

For some countries, however, we ask for the original education documents or other special documentation. See the section "Documents from certain countries" below.


Scanning documents for your digital application

  • Scan the original documents.
  • Scan each document separately. In the web form you will be asked to attach the documents one by one, e.g. the certificate for a qualification in one file, the transcript for that qualification in another file, etc.
  • Remember to scan the reverse side of any documents which have information or stamps on the back.
  • Only pdf files are accepted.
  • If you are unable to scan directly to pdf, you can take photos and convert them to pdf files.
  • Give each file a name that helps to identify it.
  • Document images must be in colour and of good quality so you can see the details.

Documents from certain countries

If you want assessment of qualifications from one of the following countries, you are encouraged to provide the original documents or other special documentation.

Country Documentation
Afghanistan Send or hand in the original documents.
Cameroon Send or hand in the original documents.
China Upload these documents in your digital application: educational documents and "verification report" issued by the Center for Student Services and Development, Ministry of Education, P.R. China, for your degrees.
Côte d'Ivoire Send or hand in the original documents.
DR Congo Send or hand in the original documents.
India Higher education: Please ask your college or university to send a transcript of your academic record directly to the Danish Agency for Higher Education and Science. Use this form: International Transcript Request and Release Form.
Other education: Send or hand in the original documents.
Nigeria Higher education: Please ask your college or university to send a transcript of your academic record/Mark Sheets directly to the Danish Agency for Higher Education and Science. Use this form: International Transcript Request and Release Form.
Other education: Send or hand in the original documents.
Pakistan

For higher education qualifications we need:

  • Degree certificates stamped by the Higher Education Commission (HEC). We only accept HEC stamps issued from February 2009 and onwards.
  • Your CNIC number.
Somalia Send or hand in the original documents.
Sudan Send or hand in the original documents.

Please note:

  • Do not scan original documents that you are going to send by post or hand in.
  • Do not send or hand in the original documents until you have submitted your digital application.

We ask for original documents because it has proved necessary, on several occasions, to ask applicants for original documents from the countries mentioned in order to provide sufficient basis for our assessment.

How to submit original documents

Send the original documents by registered post to:

Please remember to mention your full name and date of birth.

We will return the original documents by registered post as soon as we have processed your application. Please tell us about any change of address. You can also choose to collect the documents at our reception. In that case, you must call us to make an appointment.
