2024

Artificial Intelligence in Research and Innovation

Danish research and innovation environments can leverage artificial intelligence to enhance the quality, scope, and relevance of Denmark's investments in research and innovation. However, the technology also has the potential to bring significant changes to the framework of research and innovation. This calls for ethical and security considerations, as well as reflections on how Danish institutions can seize the emerging opportunities.

In 2024, DFIR hosted a series of debates on the framework for the development and application of artificial intelligence in Denmark. These discussions highlighted the potentials and risks associated with AI, as well as researchers’ use of and perspectives on the ethical challenges of applying AI in the five stages of the research process: idea generation, research design, data collection, data analysis, and dissemination.

In this project, DFIR investigates various aspects of the public innovation promotion system, aiming to map out any potentials for strengthening the framework conditions for knowledge-based innovation for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Research-Informed Welfare Innovation
