Danish municipalities face significant challenges in continuing to deliver high-quality, citizen-focused welfare. DFiR is investigating how best to support the use of research and development to inform and enhance municipal welfare tasks for the benefit of citizens and society.
Universities for the Future
Danish universities are central to maintaining Denmark's prosperity, welfare and democracy and to developing solutions to major societal challenges. On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the 2003 University Act, DFiR examines the sector's governance and financing structure.
About the Council
About the council
The Danish Council for Research and Innovation Policy (DFiR) was established on 1 April 2014. The Council was set up charged with the responsibility to provide policy makers with independent and expert advice on research, technological development and innovation.
The Danish Council for Research and Innovation Policy (DFiR) was set up charged with the responsibility to provide the Minister for Higher Education and Science and others with independent and expert advice on research, technological development and innovation at a system level. The responsibility comprises both the research policy and innovation policy advice, which was earlier placed on the Danish Council for Research Policy and the Danish Council for Technology and Innovation.
Members
DFiR consist of a chairman and eight members appointed by the Danish minister for Higher Education and Research. The current council was appointed in april 2023 with Professor Frede Blaabjerg as chairman.
