Registration is now open for the first ESA webinar on “Boost growth and competitiveness and Inspire Europe” in the ESA Strategy 2040: Elevate the future of European Space. It features Andreas Mogensen and will focus on technology, competitiveness and education.

NEW: Please register for participation via the link.

Across the globe, space is increasingly recognised as a vital component of national strategies for technological advancement, and economic growth. Public investment in space is rising at unprecedented levels, and the commercialisation of space activities has brought the private sector to the forefront of space innovation. The convergence of space technologies with digitalisation, as well as the growing intersection between space and defence, is reshaping the industry in ways unimaginable just a decade ago.

For Europe to maintain its leadership position and role as a globally trusted partner in this highly competitive domain, we must renewed ambition and enhanced investment; attracting and retaining world-class talent, including researchers, students, and professionals; ESA is planning to support its Member States in developing policies and initiatives that create a more attractive investment climate for private entities, offering incentives and reducing barriers to entry. This will attract significant private investments, bolstering Europe’s economic position and ensuring sustained growth and innovation within the space sector.

This will empower European industry to access new profitable growth markets and contribute to a sustainable future for Earth. Leading in new markets will generate spillover growth in other key sectors with civil and dual-use applications

This opening webinar will provide an overview of Strategy 2040, addressing the conceptual path leading to its definition. ESA will illustrate how this overarching strategy represents a balanced synthesis of MS national space strategies incorporating major priorities into a unique vision paving the way to position Europe among space powers.

This first webinar will address the recently released ESA Strategy 2040 and promote the opportunities offered to the space ecosystem around the goals aiming to Boost growth and competitiveness and Inspire Europe.

ESA Experts will present how ESA supports industry in developing new cutting-edge technologies (General Support Technology programme), in further devising innovative solutions for concrete applications (ARTES) and finally in making those products commercially profitable (BASS and ScaleUp).

ESA Astronaut Andreas Mogensen will share his experience and illustrate the new education activities to attract young generations.
