Denmark has significant developments going on in the field of nanomedicine using nanoparticles as the next generation platform for the development of novel disease diagnostics, prognostics and therapeutics.
Danish research holds competence and networks in the basic natural sciences to develop advanced nanoparticles that can be functionalised to have multifunctional properties such as simultaneous image contrast in several medical image modes or e.g. a combination of disease area targeting, improved image contrast and drug delivery.
Likewise, can nanoparticles offer new means of high sensitivity biomarker detection as a diagnostic tool. Denmark also has very strong medical research environments for the clinical development of the next generation nanomedicine.
This in combination with the strong industrial profile in the medtech, biotech and pharmaceutial area should lay the ground for a good chance of success.
The opportunities are many and Denmark is well positioned why a innovation driven program in this area may accelerate the translation of on-going academic research into an industrial setting and a commercial development.
