DFiR-conference 2020: Science advice and research-based knowledge in societal crisis (webinar)

How can research-based knowledge be used in time of crises like the pandemic – and how can it be converted into decisions, politics, guidelines and restrictions? These are some of the questions you may discuss with leading Danish and international scientists and advisers during the DFiR-webinar
  • Tid og sted
  • Hvornår 24. november 2020 fra 13:00 til 16:00

The corona era has led society to look to science for solutions, directions and answers in societal crises. However, it has also shown how difficult it is to communicate research-based knowledge to society and decision makers, how unfortunate communication causes distrust and lack of legitimacy, and how challenging it is for society to receive answers that are not black or white.

During the webinar leading Danish and international scientist and advisers in central roles and positions will share their experiences from the pandemic crisis.

You may take part in the dialogue with these experts:

  • Søren Brostrøm (Director General at the Danish Health Authority)
What have learned about science advise from the way we reacted to corona-virus in Denmark?
  • Sigrid Weiland (Team Leader COVID-19 and Assistant to the Special Advisor to the European Commission President on COVID-19)
Real-time learning: Science advice close to the political leadership during the corona crisis
  • Corien Prins (Chair of Netherlands Scientific Council for Government Policy)
Making science advice in turbulent times – how do we stay science-based?
  • David Mair (Head of Unit, Joint Research Centre, European Commission)
Evidence-informed policy in a crisis – what have we learned so far?
  • Philipp Schröder (Professor at Dept. of Economics, Aarhus University)
How can non-health-science advice be brought in to play in health crises: Dilemmas, learnings, and suggestions
  • Cliff Lane (Deputy Director for Clinical Research and Special Projects, NIAID, National Institute of Health, USA)
