DFiR-Conference 2020: Science advice and research based knowledge as tools in societal crisis (webinar)

24. november 2020
On 24 November 2020 DFiR was hosting a webinar to debate how research-based knowledge can be used in time of crises like the pandemic – and how it can be converted into decisions, politics, guidelines and restrictions

In the context of the corona era leading Danish and international scientist and advisers in central roles and positions shared their experiences from the pandemic crisis during the webinar.

Corona has led the society to look to science for solutions, directions and answers in societal crises. However, it has also shown how difficult it is to communicate research-based knowledge to society and decision makers, how unfortunate communication causes distrust and lack of legitimacy, and how challenging it is for society to receive answers that are not black or white.

Speeches from the experts listed below was a stepstone for the debate:

  • Sigrid Weiland (Team Leader COVID-19 and Assistant to the Special Advisor to the European Commission President on COVID-19)
Real-time learning: Science advice close to the political leadership during the corona crisis
