Resumé
The breakthrough in the areas of genomics and proteomics has opened up for a much deeper understanding of the organized complexity of biological systems. However, the current challenge is to develop the appropriate IT platforms and bioinformatics tools in order to allow directed data analyses and generation of novel bioinformatics solutions to be applied in life sciences and clinical medicine.
It is reasonable to expect that bioinformatics technologies will drive a new innovation wave in businesses such as life sciences, device and diagnostics industries, pharmaceutical drug development, and clinical medicine.
Denmark has a relatively good position in the field of bioinformatics and medicine, and with this strategic initiative we want to ensure a leading position when these technologies mature to the level of industrial applications.
